Among the Angels

A setting of lines from Centuries of Meditations (I,28) for SATB chorus and organ.

The work was commissioned by the Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral and first performed on 15th October 2011 by the Salisbury Cathedral Choir under David Halls with Daniel Cook at the organ. The occasion was the enthronement of Nicholas Holtam as the new Bishop of Salisbury.

A second performance of the work was given on 9th October 2014 by St Martin’s Voices, conducted by Andrew Earls. The venue was St Martin-in-the-Fields and the event was entitled Great Sacred Music: Among the Angels - A meditation on the life and work of Thomas Traherne, including music by James Whitbourn.
